Feel Confident to Add Complexity

Reducing part count and touch labor should be a major concern for anyone concerned with Design For Manufacturability (DFM).  If you are building a complicated chassis that has an exceptionally long lead time, you may be hesitant to include some features you otherwise would want to include because: a) you had to release the chassis early before the rest of the design was complete, or b) you are nervous that something could go wrong, leading to even more schedule delay, so you leave separate parts as an escape hatch.  If you are able to turn designs around more quickly, you can integrate components with confidence.  Include handles, mounting feet, and even gasket grooves such that mating covers can be reduced to simple sheet metal parts.
