Rob Smith has a masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Utah where he worked on optimization methods to solve inverse heat transfer problems.
He obtained his Utah Professional Engineers license in 2003 and has used it to solve safety critical structural engineering problems.
He has nearly 2 decades of experience the military-aerospace industry working for L-3 Communications designing products from submarines to satellites, and from small missiles to large 18 wheel trailers. In that capacity he was involved in the purchase and training of their first 3D printer over 10 years ago. That first purchase has since expanded to a full plastic 3D printing lab that he regularly used.
In early 2015 Rob founded Qualified Rapid Products, a print services provider focused on meta Additive Manufacturing and design/optimization services. They obtained their first metal 3D printer in July, the first printer in the intermountain west.
Regardless of your equipment, we will connect your problem with the appropriate material Additive Manufacturing solution.
